WatchOS 3 slow on Apple Watch Series 1

Anyone else experiencing significant pauses on series 1 Apple Watch with WatchOS 3? When a message comes in, the display of the message pauses in mid-animation and when changing colours in sketch mode, the coloured dot representing the current colour pauses during animation. Really frustrating as the quick sketches and sending quick messages is one of the main reasons I have Apple Watch. It might be that OS 3 is optimised for the series 2 hardware but the animation for opening messages and changing sketch colours was in OS 2. Would be interested to hear other people's experiences of the OS on series 1 watches.

The following steps may help:

Restart both your iPhone and your watch, turning both off together, then restarting your iPhone first:

Unpair and re-pair your watch:

The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode).

Will give it a go. Any idea why this might solve pauses like this? Is there some evidence of the cause or is it just something try. Thanks 🙂

They are general troubleshooting steps that may help. I am not aware of any known related issue, nor does my own first generation watch exhibit the issues that you have described.

To clarify, Series 1 does not refer to your existing, first generation watch. It instead refers to a new Apple Watch model that has the same features as the original Apple Watch, except for an upgraded processor.
